Executive Secretary Gombe State Primary Health Care Development Agency Has Shaded More Light on World Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) Day “30/01/2021”

The Executive secretary Gombe State Primary Health Care Development Agency (GSPHCDA) Dr. Abdulrahman Shu’iabu called on the general public to adhere to environmental sanitation as one of the key strategies aimed at curtailing Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) in the State.

Dr. Abdulrahman made this remarks in his office while answering questions from news men to mark the world NTD day. He stated that, there is a strong collaboration between the State Government and some organisations towards eliminating and controlling NTDs which include Onchocerciasis (River blindness) Lymphatic filariasis (elephantiasis) and Schistosomiasis (bilharziasis) in the state.

The E.S while appreciating the effort of the State Government in its effort towards eliminating NTDs through the provision of clean water and environmental sanitation, also urged the general public, to compliment government effort by ensuring personal hygiene among others.

The UNICEF team from Bauchi field office, led by the Chief Field officer, Mr. Bhanu Pathak, was accompanied by the E.S of GSPHCDA, Dr. Abdulrahman Shuaibu and S.A to the Governor on Budget Planning and Development Partner Coordination Dr. Ishiyaku Mohammed to supervise the ongoing revitalisation of PHCs across the 10 wards of Kwami L.G.A.

During the monitoring exercise, both teams expressed satisfaction with the quality of the ongoing renovation across the health facilities. The project consultant was advised to complete the project as scheduled, so that the communities can start accessing services in the health facilities

The Executive Secretary Gombe State Primary Health Care Development Agency (GSPHCDA) Dr. Abdulrahman Shu’aibu played host to the governing board of GSPHCDA.

The Chairman of the board, Dr Ya’u Kashere appreciated H.E for finding them worthy to be appointed as board members of the agency and promised to work tirelessly to ensure that the agency achieve its objective. He also solicited for support from the management of the Agency.

The council members also paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Health to solicit for his support and guidance. The Honourable Commissioner pledged to support the council in all their activities.

The E.S, GSPHCDA Dr. Abdulrahman Shu’iabu paid a visit to the Department of Community and Family Health of the Agency and the State Medical Stores respectively. During the visit, the E.S interacted with staff of the units in order to address their challenges and to provide the needed support in the day to day activities of the units.
